Does She or Doesn't She?
A few months ago I saw some local yard sale leftovers on Craigslist under the free section.  I immediately drove over and picked up a lot of goodies.  One of which is this Miss Clairol Hair Color Bath 46 Chestnut Brown from 1961.  I'm planning to auction it off on eBay so I was trying to get an idea of how much it sells for and couldn't find any recently listed.  I did notice that there were lots of ads up for auction.  Miss Clairol was the first in home hair color and helped erased the weird stigmatism then associated with coloring your hair.  Within six years..

FALL in love with pumpkin spice!
It's starting to get colder outside as we get closer and closer towards Winter!  I wanted to celebrate what we have left of Fall and remind everyone Winter isn't here yet.  Even though this past week, it sure felt like it.  I knew I wanted to do something with pumpkin spice k-cups because NOTHING says Fall like pumpkin spice!  I also knew I wanted to use real leaves.  This idea had been swirling around my head all week and on Friday, a day away from show time, I remembered this awesome pumpkin my co-worker Tina Lloyd had displayed in her cubicle.   Than..

I started this week off by educating myself.  In noting the condition of the books I wanted to make sure I was using the correct terms for parts of the book.  I found this great site, http://www.antcolbks.com/Glossary.html and now I know what a fore edge is.  I also came across books that had edges with uneven pages.  I refer to these as ghetto pages but as it turns out it's called a deckle edge and some people prefer it.  Armed with my knew knowledge I sat down and got ready to work.   Days 3 and 4 were supervised by Lovey Boy (pictured left). &n..

Day one, supervised by Boogeyman (pictured left), consisted mostly of trial and error while Al and I searched for the ideal cataloging software.  We want to be able to log the book easily (preferably scanning it with a scanner), note the condition, and be able to upload it to Amazon.  We still aren’t sure the program we are using is the best but after wasting the better part of day one we picked one and started digging.  At the end of the second day we have 6 bins (320) completely catalogued.  We also have half a bin of more difficult books catalogued.   &nb..
The Dunkin Donuts K-Cups Break Room Experiment        Like many people I need my coffee in the morning and occasionally throughout the day.  I recently started a new job and the first thing I noticed was that every department had a Keurig with an abundance of K-cups.   While taking a tour of the departments I noticed one of the managers had a box of Peppermint Mocha Dunkin Donuts K-Cups on her desk.  That’s when I realized, while each department had an abundance of K-Cups, they didn’t have the best which is of course, Dunkin Donuts K-Cups.   E..

The Plan is two yard sales from Craigslist and a visit to one of the greatest thrift stores around, Thrift Village in Glassboro, NJ.   Yard Sale #1- The one I was excited about The Craigslist ad for this yard sale was a "Massive Moving Sale" and "Bargain Central" that claimed to have something for everyone !  As we pulled up I immediately had a good feeling about this one because I saw a lot of cars in front of the house and signage.   The best part,  everything was INDOORS!  This was a great surprise because it was freeeezing cold out.  The peo..
During a recent road trip to Vermont, my son Alex and I listened to an audiobook that was set in Maine.  The narrator described a local drink in that region called Moxie (Pronounced  Mawwksey, in their native tongue).   My son asked was curious about it, so I told him to look it up on the Wikipedia app as we drove (see, technology is actually a good thing!)  This opened up a conversation about local drinks that are specific to regions of the country.   I explained to him that these beverages usually have characteristics of their region of origin, and are w..

There’s nothing like the open road and fresh country air to ease your frazzled nerves.   This weekend, grab your GPS, fill up your gas tank, and let the road take you!   We love road trips in my family, but if you like to travel as often as we do, it can become costly.   There are a few apps and websites out there that make extended road trips safe and affordable.   One such site is www.couchsurfing.org .  You can also download the couchsurfing app on your smartphone.  What a fantastic way to see the world, meet new friends, and obtain..

If you're keeping up with the blog then you know last week I went to a new thrift store. If you're not keeping up, go back and check it out. Today I listed my funky find of a green vase on eBay from last week.  If you want to get in on the bidding war check out the auction by clicking on the picture of the vase.   It's a fabulous vase but it's been sitting on my desk for a week all lonely and unappreciated so it's time to let it loose and allow it to explore the world.  More importantly, it's time to make more room on my desk for new purc..
